Chad has my car right now, doing all of the work on the Red on E-85. I have to say that Chad's shop is top-notch and I have complete confidence in his work. Although I went with the Red because I bought it months ago, the BBK turbo he is offering is quite amazing.

I'm sure that I am pushing my stock motor to the edge of explosion with this Red & E-85. If I werent so obsessed about pushing my stock motor to the limit with a big turbo like the red, I'd go with the tried and true BBK. If you guys want a great spooling turbo that does wonders on pump gas, go with the BBK! I think the BBK is the ultimate safe turbo for a stock Evo motor on pump that is a daily driver... Which I think applies to about 90% of Evo owners.

I'll let you guys know how it goes with my Red & E-85, but lets try not to compare the two turbo's so closely... The BBK is a great turbo for the majority of us who want a bolt-on turbo that spools early and has a great top end on 93 octane... without the need for many many supporting mods. The Red is a huge turbo that really shines on race gas/E-85/30psi+ and with all bolt-on mods. This is not to say that the BBK is not good on high boost... because it is. If you choose the Red, you better have all of the supporting bolt-on mods first.

I say we close this thread because I think the BBK and the FP Red are in different categories!

BBK = early spool, great top end, perfect for stock motor, on pump gas.
Red = later spool, amazing top end, really pushing stock motor, requires more than pump 93 octane to be worth the extra $$ over BBK.

Both turbo's are great. Choose which is best for you! Dont compare dyno sheets... compare pocketbooks!

!
This is wrong. First off THE RED is $100 (or < 6% more ) more than the full and makes a ton of power on 93.

There is a lot of misinformation and misconceptions in this thread. I am surprised this has been going this long. CBRD has posted this a half dozen times "Figure out your goals, talk to both FP and CBRD, and buy the turbo that fits the bill." Why is this so difficult?

Well, with my decision coming up pretty soon. I'm still waiting on the BBK to be tuned by someone other than CBRD. I'm not knocking them and they seem very reputable. There as just been too many examples in the past of a vendor pushing a product that later does not live up to the hype.
Just waiting on a second opinion.

CBRD is def not like that by just trying to sell the product...there much more than that....either turbo is going to perform just pick 1

so why dont you buy it so everyone can see a outsiders opinion

I have BBK full, and it will be tuned my Ivey early next year ... I have few more things to do on the car before its ready, and constant business trips, and clients projects don't allow me to work on the car as much as I would like ..

I know, I know. I have pmed CBRD. I think he is too professional to bad mouth any other turbo to sell his. I'm really hoping the BBK lite proves to have FP Green power so I can just buy one, tune it on E85, and call it a day.
