FPRED vs CBRD BBK

how does the new CBRD BBK compare to the FPRED? i'v been looking into the new CBRD setup since theres not a huge waiting list, but at the same time i have not seen as many high numbers put out like the FPRED.

Has anyone had experience with both turbo setups? hope to recieve some good feedback!!

There is some good info in the Red and BBK threads, but like others said, they are actually pretty different turbos. The red is much bigger and capapble of flowing more. So you can get bigger peak #'s with the right setup and will really see the benefit of its larger size if you are running higher boost, 30+ psi. BBK really shines on pump as it's best in the mid to upper 20 psi range. I have the BBK and love it but it will ultimately depend on what your goals for your car are. Like when comparing any turbos that are different sizes, the smaller one will spool faster and the larger will make bigger peak #'s, depends on what you are looking for.

My dyno chart is in the BBK dyno results thread and I made 398 whp and 350 wtq on CBRD's mustang dyno with identical spoolup to the stock turbo with the BBK Full.

yeah,

it really is two different flavors of turbos..

FP has done a great job of building BIG turbo into a stock housing when run at moderate-high boost levels.... and it is by no means a bad pump gas turbo either.

our turbo is about 8-10 lbs min smaller than the red... meaning... well, its a smaller turbo.. and will have the benefits of a smaller turbo, but also WILL not match the red at higher boost levels...

Dave Buschur has posted some serious numbers with the RED on C16, import, meth.. and run some serious 1/4 mile times..

we tend to build mostly pump gas street/roadrace cars.. and on our dyno the BBK is in a league of the highest WHP stock ecu pump gas cars.....

my advice talk to us personally, talk to Robert at FP and see what fits your needs.

cheers

It has been great so far, I got it put in a few weeks ago with the BBK (actually had to wait to get on the dyno and tuned cuz I had to break it in). But engagement is really smooth, it's quiet, pedal is barely stiffer than stock. Downshifts are very smooth as well, and holding the power I am making is no issue for it. I am very happy with it and would highly recommend it.

Back on topic, if you have any questions def give Chad a call.
Thanks again Chad, car still leaves me with a stupid grin on my face everytime I drive it.
