FPRED vs CBRD BBK
Good work.

What about the 50-trim kits that many Evo owners had?
Sadly as time goes there will always be innovations which result in equal (if not more power), more efficiency, and all at a cheaper cost to the consumer.
As stated previously we're seeing 50-trim and 30r power out of the FP Red at nearly half the cost.
Just look at all the huge developements in turbos available for the Evo within the past 1-2 years: CBRD BBK, FP RED, 35HTA, FS365, & HTA86.
It's a good time to be an Evo owner

you should ask yourself what are your plans for your car. Sure Red makes more HP but at what cost ?? If you drag race go with Red. If you road race and you don't want to be pushing 30psi + and you run pump gas than BBK is your answer.
Just type "bbk dyno" and "bbk available" in the search box, and you'll find 2 threads talks about the bbk turbo, I found all the answers I needed there, there is no need to start a thread like this.
The two seem to be pretty similar given similar bolt ons on pump at similar boost levels.
I went for the BBK Lite and it's awesome - spools like stock but keeps pulling right up to redline. I imagine the Fp Red would be similar but perhaps with ever so slightly slower spool (most people probably wouldn't notice).
In this range (bolt ons + pump) I'd say that the BBK wins out - it's cheaper, spools insanely quick and offers just as much power.
When you go for more extreme setups however (meth, race gas, e85, bigger boost etc.) I think the FP Red has more potential in it the harder you push it - more room to grow.
I'm more into road racing so the BBK suited my needs better but the FP Red also deserves mucho respecta.
Bottom line, you can't really go wrong with either one...both have the potential to get you near the magic 400whp mark on pump. It's a great time to be an Evo owner with options like these to choose from.

Has it been irrefutably proven that the BBK produces more power on pump gas than the FP Red? If not, then why does everyone assume that the BBK is a better pump gas turbo? Offers just as much power....Then post up some back-to-back dyno plots please. The BBK wins out? Compared to what?
^+1 i dont understand why people keep saying its not a pump gas turbo.....and as for as road racing just look at Nills..

Love how all the fanboys come out. If your debating between these turbos:
1. Use the search button
2. Use the search button one more time (RESEARCH)
3. Find out what your needs are for your evo
4. Call CBRD or FP.
5. Talk to them ; )
Follow the simple list and you will be on your way to 400whp

again,
talk to whoever is doing your build/tune.... talk to whoever you are considering and go from there.....
we have proven our turbo, fp has proven theirs... you need to determine what is the right fit for you.

I'll be real honest. I bought my Green a couple years back and to me at that time, it seemed like the best choice.
Now, the CBRD BBK is out! If t had been available when I bought my Green, I probably would have opted for the BBK instead. Why? Because it would have probably suited my needs better. I wanted quick spool and run crappy 91 octane gasoline always.
The Green is great at boost levels over 26 PSI. But, on 91 octane I never see higher than 23 PSI max. Also, the Green spools a bit slow with the 10.5 hotside to suit my setup.
