boost creep and service engine light

so i was driving my car in the backwoods straightaway i floor the car in 3rd gear take off very nicely. then my car at about 4.5-5k rpms spikes up boost from 19 psi to 25 psi.

note that recently i had a 3" helix downpipe installed and the helix o2 housing.

the car felt like it hit a brick wall now the service engine light came on.

is this all releated to what might be boost creep?

Probably got P0243 "overboost" I got one once the weather cooled down and my boost rose. I take it your untuned. After my tune Ive never gotten the code again. Get a scanner to erase the code, If you plan on modding your car youll need one.

yes - just get an obdII reader or a tactrix cable and laptop and you can.

i suspect a tune will fix it though

sounds like an overboost has it happened before cause the overboost code usually requires two different times to throw the ses

install the boost controller and turn your boost down that may help the creep

getting tuned would be a great idea

Car always has tendency to boost higher with cold weather. I had same code on my car once 243 overboost. And it feels like it hit the wall. You need to get tuned, that will fix everything. O2 housing usually has lots to do with it, cold weather and O2 and you had overboost condition, since you didn't have boost controller installed so ECU was trying to compensate. Just install MBC and get tuned. Nothing to worry about.

Welcome to boost cut! The code you probably threw was for the wastegate actuator, pay it no attention...clear it and either lower the pressure via a mbc or have it tuned the right way with the cut limit raised. The delay can also be increased if you're just barely hitting past the limit, the stock setting is for 1000ms (1 sec), I'd suggest going to 2000ms or leave it at 1000ms and raise the limits a bit. Limits for a stock '03 are only around 225% (I have mine set at 305% but I regularly hit 301% load on my '03).
