gt35r upgrade to hta35r?

do you think it is worth it to upgrade to the hta35r if you have a gt35r? fp says they can do the upgrade in a week for $650. fp said that with the upgrade the car should spool 500rpms faster, but i am skeptical with that figure. another tuner said it would spool 150 rpms sooner. another respected forum member says about 300 rpm spool advantage with a 10% power gain.

i want to get better turbo response with my gt35r. i have a stock displacement built bottom end with every bolt on. i understand that going to a hta3586 would net me more power, but don't want more lag.

i have read most of the hta threads. seeing if theres any more info out there.

from what ive seen i would go with the 86.

im on the stock bottom end as well and i went with the HTA86 from the HTA35r, the HTA35r does spoolaround 300rpm quicker and will net u quite a bit more power.

like i said in the other thread, in my opinion the HTA86 spools around the same as a standard 35r.

Another option to the HTA upgrade is PTE's 62mm Billet compressor wheel. I can't remember the price off the top of my head but can have accurate pricing on Monday if interested.

He is on a built bottom end, not a stock bottom end. I'm not sure I see how a stock shortblock can (safely) realize the difference between a 730whp turbo and a 780whp turbo.

$550 for the upgrade, $650 if you want it rushed.

It really boils down to what you realistically expect from the car, what fuels you intend to use, etc. Pick a power goal that fits reasonable usage expectations and your long term budget, then consider the turbo that gets you there with the best possible powerband (ie. least lag and best response).

how is boost response with the 62? will it spool sooner or later than a gt35r. also what are the advantages of the 62 compared to the 35r and the hta upgrade?

The HTA35R is well worth it.

currently the car has put down 627whp on a dyno jet on pump fuel. the car has been turned down a little for daily driving to about 590whp.
i want to be able to drive the car daily and do a few road coarse or time attacks.
power goal would be at minumum 627whp on pump, mid to low 700's on 116, ??? on 100octane.

would like to run e85, but i don't think my 1200cc injectors and double pumper would be big enough to support that fuel, is it?

i just want to get the best 35r upgrade that will make hp- torque as soon as possible, while not running into a wall at the top end.

ted b do you know what the time delay is with going the $550 option than the $650 option by fp?

does anyone have a hta35 in stock where i could swap my gt35r that has less than 500 miles on?

Not for 700whp, no.

As I indicated previously, you have to define where 'a wall' is first, and go from there. Both HTA 35R variants are capable of 700+hp. '82' low to mid 700s, '86' high 700s. The difference in spool time looks to be several hundred rpm. You have to decide what is more important.

You may as well ask a fortune teller, as no human alive can seem to predict that with any real certainty.

the 35r hta will outspool the the ht86 for sure since is only a 59mm turbo vs 62mm and smaller on turbine side also.. the 6262 is much more comparable to the Hta86 as both are 62mm turbos.. the 6262 is much less $$ though...

I have been super happy with my hta35r and haven't looked back.
When did FP start charging $550 for this upgrade?
I upgraded my 35r about 8 months ago and it was $400 back than...but I would do it all over again for $550 for sure

damn supply and demand!!! man seems like everything except the hta upgrade is getting cheaper.

i was also researching the 6262 Mike, but have decided that faster spool was more a factor in my turbo upgrade.

PTE offers the 62mm in three variants. The 6262, 6265, and 6235r.

Boost response is good with the 62's. The only car I've personally driven with the 62mm had a 6265 on it and I didn't mind it at all. The 35r upgraded to 62mm billet wheel will spool up faster and make more power than the standard unit and the upgrade costs $500. A complete ball bearing 6262 costs in the $1400 range.
