Ebay has them for 25 bucks, but that seems to cheap. I am in the same boat. I don't want to pay to much , but I don't want cheap stuff on my car.

They're actually very good for the electrical system on the evo, from what I hear. Here's a good thread that talks about it, with feedback from people who have installed it.

Making your own is much cheaper. All you need is at least 9 feet of 8 gauge copper wire, 12 gold plated ring terminals (5/16" hole), and a tranny bolt. It shouldn't cost any more than $25. I bought my stuff for $15.

I had the hyperground cables in my car when I bought it -- I didn't pay for them, I think the dealer must have installed them in the car but not updated the window sticker. I removed the cables for autoX purposes (they're not legal in Stock class), and my butt dyno didn't register any difference. Given my experience, I don't think I'd go out of my way to put the grounding cables back on the car, nor would I pay much for a grounding kit... Just my opinion, FWIW.

I have the SMK on my car, which includes a Voltage gauge. With nothing on but te motor, it registers 13.7 Volts. Hit the lights and A/C it drops to 12, the car shakes at Idle, and the car was less consistent in making power probably as the car had less spark.

I put the Kit on, volts jumped to 14.5 volts, and with the radio and A/C it stays at 14 volts, les shaking.

This kit allows a FAR better circut and keeps teh voltage constant, which is VERY important for spark. There are like 3 guys who sell these kits, get one for $40 and be done with it, excelent 1st mod, it won't gain you any HP, but will make sure your car won't lose any while running accessories or cause the car to have a weak idle, very important.

Yes, very important. Your spark plugs work on amplified electricity, so the less restriction in the current, the better. I don't think anyone's ever done a dyno with and without it (not cost effective), but I'm sure it'll gain you some little hp, if not, it'll smooth the powerband out better.

Autozone has battery ground cables, already terminated. They range in price from $3-$4 for various lengths. I picked up 6 of them for around $20 right off the shelf. The longest legth I bought was 42" I think.

I noticed that after the kit was installed the engine was much smoother throughout the rpms.

Also, sometimes my idle rpms would drop suddenly when I had my AC cranked and needed to move a small amount forward (drive throughs, and heavy traffic). Since I've installed the kit I have not experienced this problem again.

Overall I think it's a very good mod.

I've seen this too, AC on and do a creep...not good. I also feel a slightly funky idle from time to time. I think I'll give this a try.

Has been discussed many times. Search for ground in How-To Installation.
