Roundsport, what kind of weight loss have you found with those sub-frames?

The Front subframe weighs 6kg and the rear 5kg,so quite a good weigh saving.

Did you by chance weigh the stock cross members? Just be nice to have one more set of data points since it seems like there is a fairly large spread in reported weights on them.

Looks good though. It looks like you have eliminated the smaller rear cross member that the front of the rear diff mounted too?

Once we get the front all done we will look at the rear but the rear is already made from aluminum so i am not sure if it will be worth it. The biggest weight saving in the rear is the mustache bar and diff mounts.

For those that haven't tore the car apart back there, the rear cross member is two pieces. There is the main piece that has the suspension mounts, moustach bar mount, etc. Then there is a smaller cross member in front of it that just provides a mount for the side differential mounts.

You may be able to redo the smaller rear cross member that holds the front diff to incorperate a diff mount directly into the crossmember. Between eliminating the need for differential side mounts and then going from a solid cast piece to a tubular CrMo pice, the smaller rear crossmember might actually be worth looking at. It eliminates the $250 you would spend on differential mounts which may give it a more economic advantage over a direct replacement that kept the side differential mounts.

I'd probably get one even if it didnt save much weight. As long as it is stronger than stock and created a lot of room to work on things down below.

Probably a foolish question, but will it come complete ready to bolt on with urethane mounts & accessories?

I will get the scales out tomorrow for both the standard and tubular options,I made the front subrame to save weight and to play about with roll centres, the amount of extra room they give you to work on the car is a bonus aswell.

This is something I would like to eventually get but right now is just not the right time for me. I hope these will be able to be ordered in the future?

Also a rear one is in my interest as well. Next year the car becomes a weekend warrior again and I'd like to start lightening this pig up...

We just just plan to make 10 to test the waters. Since the jig will be made we can make as many as needed i would love to sell more than 10. I think we will have a DSM one in the works as well.
