help p0234 wont go away

hi i keep resetting my cel but it keeps coming back. It says "wastegate solenoid malfunction." I reset the cel and put my boost down. My psi never passes 17 pounds but today the cel came back. Also it came on when i started the car not even when i was driving.

I have checked the vac lines and there are good. Everything is hooked up properly. My mods are MBC, 02 housing, 10.5 hotside, intercooler, intake and exhaust. No tune but like I said earlier my boost never passes 17 psi

I was wondering if it might be my plugs, maybe they are bad? I really cant figure this out

When you installed the MBC did you leave the stock boost control solenoid plugged into the electrical connection? If you didn't you will keep throwing that code unless you switch to a stand alone EMS. Check that out. No need to plug the ports that come from it just make sure it is still plugged in.

Leave the solenoid plugged in if you run a mbc (like said above). Otherwise if still running on the stock ecu controlled tables the only time I ever see this code is if I hit boost cut. If that's the case you need to raise your boost cut limit a little bit.

if you have a manual boost controller you shouldn't notice any negative effects other than getting a CEL...if you leave the solenoid plugged in I believe you have to loop the in and the out with a small piece of tube on the viii's...on my ix I don't have anything goign to the solenoid and I left it plugged in...I got the code randomly one day and haven't seen it since

that could be the problem. Before I still had the wires going into the solenoid and now i took them out and right after got the cel. Ill put them back in and see if it fixes it. Thanks

LOL. Yeah, the ECU still reads the signal from the stock solenoid even if you run a boost controller. Your car is definitely in limp mode without the solenoid hooked up, ha ha
