WTF happened...

Hey guys,

So I get up at 9am and go to work...cars running perfect, leave the office at 6pm, cars running perfect, drove to my cousins, everythings perfect...I leave my cousins at around 8pm, drive for 10 mins, I'm at a stop sign so I put the car in first gear and it starts to sputter. So I ride the clutch and get the car to move down the road and a bit and notice that the stick shift is loose as hell, and the only way the car would move without dying is if I rode the clutch.

I pull the car over to the side of the road and start switching gears to see how the gearbox feels, it feels really really lose, it doesn't even switch gears, I can move the stick shift in circles, it won't grab any gears, I can move the stick shift in any direction, up and down, sideways...any directions and theres nothing, and it doesnt stay in any gear.

I called AAA and had them tow it to my house. I haven't taken a look at it yet, but what do you guys think is wrong? I've never ever had this happen before.

The most recent thing that's been weird with my car is that it kept locking me out of 1st gear after I had my new clutch installed, a lot of times when the car was stopped and I tried to put it in 1st it would lock me out and I'd have to put it in 3rd, and than put it in 1st and start moving. I told the shop that installed the clutch about the problem and they told me all it needed was readjustment, so I let them readjust it and the same **** kept happening.

Hope thats some good info.

Oh...and I have an 06 EVO IX MR

Did you check to see if one of the cables popped off the transmission? They are only held on there with a clip.

I'd take the shifter assembly apart and make sure a cable didn't come off.

I agree. This is what I'd try first. There is only a little metal clip holding them on under the hood.

ok guys...so my body just recently decided to wake up after my short 17 hour nap

after an INTENSE 2 minute investigation that consisted of me opening my hood and checking the shift link cables, I made the discovery that one of the shifter bushings are gone!

Ordering up another set of shifter bushings from AMS right now.
