Cyclone intake. Not rare. Just not fully appreciated. adds about 35lbs torque at 3500 rpm. spools turbos 100-500rpm faster depending on turbo size. Most engine builders discard them like the plaque. To me it would be like doing a evo 9 build and discarding the mivec.

That's not the normal cyclone though. That's something else. I think you have a rally manifold there.

looks good but isnt the exhaust mani and turbo hot side cast? it takes some special precations to weld right? and its hard to get it to cool right. i remember having to cool an engine block in a huge bucket of sand so it would cool at a very slow rate.

im just sayin

I ground away the insignia then sand blasted it. I use T25 actuator to control flappers. start to open at 14psi, full open at 24psi.

Its more like cast stainless steel. not quite like welding cast iron. Does need to be pre heated and then slowly cooled. I cheated the system because of my impatience. I just used a mig welder and made multiple passes while whole manifold was hot. Weld looks like crap but should hold fine. The runners do not line up to flange very well either. For that I had to heat runners to cherry red then slowly hammer them to better match the 4g63 flange. In the end i just wanted to see this work. I figured I could have a manifold made later if need be. The turbo is e-bay turbo as well. Made in tiawan. I have used them before with good results. So far so good on this one. Only has 100 miles but have checked shaft play three times and its still like new.

Oh, that explains it. I'll post a pic of the group A one when I find it. It looks like yours.
