PLEASE HELP ME! After install serious boost spikes(AEM TRU BOOST)please read thanks
Today I install a full ams turbo back exhaust with test pipe on and a ETS LP2. Prior mods are TUNE, AEM TRU Boost, and K&N intake. I'm having serious trouble with the AEM TRU Boost. I followed the directions exactly and set the duty cycle at 10% to start and the Waste Gate Crack Pressure at 1psi. I believe these are though lowest setting possible and from fourth gear highway pulls I spike around 26 to 27 psi. I don't understand what to do because (if I'm following the directions correctly) these are the lowest possible boost settings and there way to high. Someone please chime In and tell me if I'm going to have to tune through the ecu to get the boost controller dialed in or I just i'm not setting up the tru boost correctly. Also do these (less then 1 second) spikes have serious impact on engine components or only if the pressure is held for a more extended period of time. Thanks for reading I really appreciate any help you can give me. If you need more details let me know.
you need to set your spring pressure to 11-12... thats when the stock wastegate opens.. then you have to do pulls to adjust the other setting... it took me a while to figure out too, but its easy...monitor the gauge, and be sure not to overboost too much...

I did and that doesn't work. I have tried the pressure 11-12 at it's lowest duty cycle of 10%. I tried the pressure at 1 with the duty cycle at it's lowest setting and that doesn't work. I even turned the boost controller in off mode so only the waste gate controls it and that doesn't work. If I did a full throttle pull from a stop it max at 18-19 but, then when I get on the highway and downshift into fourth and give it gas, it spikes to 27-28. I don't know what else I can do with the tru boost. Hopefully vivid racing will take a look at it. They installed and tuned it and the solenoid hoses fell of leaving me turbo less and having to reset the tru boost in the first place.
So, until you get to Vivid, why don't you disconnect the AEM boost controller? Just run a hose directly from the compressor housing discharge tube's nipple to the WGA. Set boost by adjusting the threaded actuator rod.
had mega problems getting my aem tru boost to hold boost pressure, we turned the spring pressure up to like 19 or 20 AEM said dont do that because the spring cant open till that boost pressure i am thinking maybe you have set the spring pressure to the boost pressure you want. When we finally got mine dialed in its at 60 to 70 percent duty cycle on the evo 9 turbo. With like 17 for the waste gate spring pressure. 60%nets like 23 to 24 lbs boost 70% is more like 26 to 27 lbs boost pressure good luck bud it was way frustrating to me too i caled aem like 4 times their # is 310 484-2322 hopefully they can help you bud they have great tech support.

My holds pretty good. It does spike and taper about 2 PSI from peak to redline, but I have read that this is pretty typical of AEM Tru Boost. I would make sure that solenoid is hooked up correctly.
There is a pretty good write up on EvoMotors. Check it out if your not sure how it should be hooked up. Its a little different with AEM, but AEM install dir fill in rest.

Okay so the tuner at Vivid Racing fixed the problem in five minutes. He is AWESOME by the way. Anyway from AZ I would highly recommend going to him. The vacuum line to the boost solenoid was being pinch against something. He just pulled out and place it away from the piping and problem solved. I put it in OFF mode last night so I could start tuning it today. I have be set at A duty cycle of 55 and crack pressure at 13. I hold boost at around 18 and peak at 20. For B mode (Badass Mode haha) I have the duty cycle at 63 with a crack pressure at 13. This is giving me a consistent 22 psi occasionally spiking to 23 for a less then a second. If anyone can shade some light if these are okay settings and the 13psi crack pressure is recommended. Does 63 duty cycle sound way to high or if the boost is good then the boost is good? Thanks
its all guess and check... i had to do the same thing... everyones set to different settings, and because my settings got me to 23 psi, it didnt get my buddy to run the same... guess and check... dont be afraid to mess with it a bit... a few numbers up or down wont dramatically change anything...
