E85 questions

I'll keep this short.

The closest station is an hour away, is it worth it?

How much quicker do you burn E85? I heard 60%.

To be able to run E85 I need double pump, and 1200cc or higher injectors. Is that it?

The average E85 price is $1.45. Is this true?

its called map switching......I have it (tephra rom mod - see ecuflash forum), I do what you want to do and I have 0 issues. I also have 3 stations near me w/ the closest one being 18 miles. I keep (2) 5 gallon containers at my work all the time.....use them for periodic fillups before I make a run to get filled up again.

I always forget to search other boards. I always just search the Evo Engine / Turbo / Drivetrain board first then ask my question. Oops. Anyways, I pretty much knew what items were needed to run E85, I just wanted some reassurance. So that's taken care of.

I also really want to know if E85 justifies the 1 hour drive to refuel every week. Maybe more often because it gets used quicker then Premium gas. Unless I just get 2 different tunes then it's perfectly justified.

And as for the price question what I sorta meant to ask was how many people have E85 that is cheaper then Premium gas.

theres an e 85 by my house 87 is going for like 1.90 and i think e85 is like 1.85ish around me but i also live where u drive 5 miles and gas goes down newhere from 5-15cents a gallon lol when gas was down to 1.55 e85 was the same if not a bit more expensive but as prices go back up it should still stay lower its usaually 30 cents cheeper then 87 for the most part

Also as far as using 1200cc injectors, what mods are done to your car? stock ecu?

For specialty questions like these your better off going to the forums dedicated to the questions at hand...you will get better info imo.

I have mods similar to yours.....I run FIC 1050's w/ single walbro. I have the tephra patch (see ecuflash forum) w/ map switching and I can go back and forth. I actually went back to 93 for now because here in Pittsburgh the 3 stations we have jacked prices like 20 cents over premium.....ridiculous.

Is it an hr. drive 1 way???? If i were you I would invest in a 55 gallon drum and a buddy with a truck and go that route when you do fill up, the hour trip will get old....real old.

I'm in the same boat. The closest E85 station is a good 20 miles away. I just got my 1000cc injectors today and am itching to instal them and get E85 tuned. I'm just trying to realistically figure out if I will be able to pull it off having the station so far away.

As much as I loved E85 when I had my car (it got stolen recently), it is not worth it if the drive is an hour away. Luckily for me the closest station was 15 miles away from me, 10 of which was highway miles.

Stock turbo= 1000cc Injectors and one 255...average price of E seems to be coming up. I am now paying 1.80 from the 1.55 I was paying 2 months ago.

Question

Ok. But Flex fuel is really not what we are after correct? We want to use it for high HP applications which uses quite a different map then a flex fuel map. Am I correct on this? The site you posted mentions being able to use any mix combination of 91 octane and E85. But with an agressive high HP map the flex part is not possible I believe. you can still run a 91octane map and a E85 map, but these have to be downloaded separately and on empty tanks.

If I'm wrong please educate me. Thanks.
