Where can I get an OBD-II diagnostic tool?
My "Service Engine Soon" light came on last night. I want to see whats up but i don't want to go to mitsu....can anyone help?
I got my OBD II scanner from ebay for about $125, it read the code number and erase the code(turn off the CEL lights), just search with " Innova", you can take a look the auction.

go to autozone they will pull the code for free. or get the autotap from www.autotap.com and it hooks to a laptop or palm pilot

ok i got the P0300 code for random engine misfire....
i reset it and it hasn't come back...although my car is stuttering in idle a lil.....i am going to make a grounding kit this weekend hopefully that will help...
i also changed my oil recently and over filled it a tad...still haven't had time to syphen the excess out....i don't think that could contribute to a misfire though
i definetly think that the grounding kit will help...i think it is essential first step to adding any mods....especially electrical ones...

The sensors have their own ground so I wouldn't expect anything. The coils do rely on the ground path.
Overall my take on this is that on a old car with bad grounds, a grounding system could potentially help. On a new car this concept is simply junk science. I don't design or architecture automobile electrical systems for a living but I do have more than one degree in electrical engineering.
When I have had misfire problems it has always been traced to bad gas. Try switching stations and gas. Also Techron injector cleaner is not a bad option.
With respect to gas the last time (P300) was with some off brand gas (no... not the Evo). Right now I'm using BP in both of my cars with zero problems.

I normally go with shell mobil or BP but your right it could have been bad gas....i reset the code and it hasn't come back...although i am on the same tank of gas still... for 40 bucks though i am going to do a little test of my own for a grounding kit...to see if it helps anything...smooth out my engine idle a tad...it will give me something to do this weekend anyway...i will let you know though
