Most SE models are GSR's so they are 5-speeds.

I've got the Works Short-Shifter that comes with the modified plastic retainer piece. No complaints here.

I have the Perrin, I love it. I would also recommend shifter base bushings and shifter endlink bushings. They made the bigger difference in shifter "feel", the short shifter makes the shifts quicker. Most of the "notchy feel" that is prob due to worn out shifter endlink bushings. once replaced give you a much smoother feel. The base bushings give the shifter a more solid feel. As for the above poster that said "it just made it lower"...Huh?

Did you go the route of replacing the plastic retainer clip, or did you grind the shifter?

Its a PITA, makes the boot look bad and collects dust. The bushings are a great little mod. If i had to do it all over again i would replace shifter base bushing to metal and run some nice poly shifter bushings with a nice shift knob. I went the route of just replacing the plastic shifter thing when I installed my B&M Short Throw. I wouldnt do it again if i could go back in time.

What is a pita? The install? The shifting?

What makes the boot look bad?

I don't understand.
