Slight mis fire at idle and at WOT

My friend had bought this car used and does not know enough to work on it on his own so I am helping him out with it.

The car has a hallman boost controller that was originally turned all the way up so I turned it back down to what I think is the stock level (no boost gauge yet its on order).
Doing that helped the car out a lot goes all the way to redline no problem. But that brings us to the next issue.

I generally would say run copper NGK's on turbo cars, I figured thats what evos had stock so I sent him to the parts store to get the factory fill and he brought back iridiums. I looked up and gapped them to 0.28 and I guess iridium is what they use stock.

The cap idles smoother but still has a slight mis fire and at WOT it has a slight mis, but is still making power.

The stock boost solenoid is plugged in but no hoses going to it. Anyone have a general idea of what this could be?

I appreciate any help.

Check your boost level and regulate it with a MBC. Too much boost will "blow out" your spark at WOT but if it happening at idle youve got other issues.

The Evo 8 (2005) is at 17psi stock? I was reading on here we can take it to about 20psi on stock?

Sorry for a lot of the retarded n00b questions . I'm usually working on Honda's this is my first encounter with a Mitsubishi

How do you know your not running 30psi or 10psi if you dont have a boost gauage? Harbor frieghts got one on sale for $20 right now and could hold you over until your 'ordered' one comes in. Is it throwing codes? Do a boost leak test first. If you want 17 psi run it straight off the wastegate bypassing the MBC altogether. Probably not a bad idea to not run much boost at all until you get your missfire figured out.

I'm going to have to make one of those boost leak testers. I am assuming it is at stock boost since I turned the controller all the way down (stupid way to guess I know)
