Injen CAI/Full IC Piping Question

I just got my hands on an evo 8 wich I plan to mod to high h**l. So I decided to start out with what else but the noob special aka the cold air intake. I see that Injen makes a CAI kit wich comes with full IC piping as well but checkin out the pics it looks as though the piping in the kit changes diameter and gets smaller in several places. Injen claims this is actually Beneficial. Can anyone give me some insight on this product? Thanks in advance.

it does get smaller when the intercooler pipe connects to the turbo because that turbo discharge pipe is only 2.25" (i believe correct me if im wrong) so the I/C pipe tapers down to meet that size... even though its small in some areas it still helps out

you'll need a tune after installing the intake if you actually want to get your money out of it

I have this kit and it does get smaller at the turbo outlet. One thing that i would get would be the couplers that connect onto the IC cause they do not come with the kit. Also it would be a good idea to get constant torque clamps cause ive had problems with the lower pipe blowing off at high boost.

Injen never made a CAI. First was the upper i/c piping along with an intake. Then they came out with lower and upper pipes without the intake. If you have stock battery, then this kit isn't bad but there are some many better options out there. The lower pipe is quite restrictive and Injen is one of the less stellar designs and seems the hype is on the ETS version 2 pipe with claims more power on top of other aftermarket designs.

the lower pipe is the one that matters the upper ic who cares do you want to run small battery or not is the question. I got complete injen kit and have modded the kit to work perfectly now so im not changing just to go though all that again im pefectly happy with my setup now and it will do well for my overall build once im done.

I have the complete Injen setup on my car. I would not purchase it again. Look at an ETS kit, or a Nisei small battery kit setup. As far as intake setups, Perrin seems to be the latest rage since their filter has recently won the air filter shootout.

Try out ETS. I have their intake and IC piping and it looks, fits, and works great!

What part of Philly are you in? I don't think there is anything scheduled right now, but check out the Northeast section for meets in the area We usualy get 10-20 evos at the meets.
