Clutch Advice for 450+hp

Just curious on what clutches some of you guys are running with 450+ hp applications. I was reading on such clutches like the Exedy twin disc, clutch masters, etc. But really dont no what to do. I have read that alot of Evo owners do not like the Exedy twin disc for drivability. Also alot of subaru owners do not like it since it wasnt holding hp over 500, and just barly keeping up with 450 which isnt good.

I met with alot of Evo owners at the shop im connected with and they all running well over 400+ hp, and alot of them in the 450+hp range are still on a single disc capable of holding 450-500hp. Such as running a stage 4 Clutch Masters single disc and thats whats ben working pretty well.

Im going to be in the 450+ range maybe even 500+ before summer.

Mods in my garage currently:

FP Red Turbo (ported)
Kelford 280/272 cams
Manley Valve springs and retainers
AquaMist HSF-5 meth kit
TurboTrix Tubular manifold

plus on top of my current mods. so my hp will be pretty high.

i need some input on what clutches you guys with 450+hp are running

any help is great

you must have an exedy twin as it is definitely not the answer to everything in this range

quartermaster twin, hell even a ACT MB7XTSS would do fine as it is rated at like 505ft lbs

to the OP clutches are not measured in the HP they will hold, they are measured by tq

yes i know that, i was just giving you guys where my hp "range" would be since i wouldnt no my tourqe.

this is exactly what i was afriad of...everyone just saying twin disc, triple disc etc.

Like i said i spoke with guys who have ran the twin and said its terrible, idk why so dont ask me.

They pointed me more towards, like stated above, a clutchmasters stage 4 with 6 puck, or a spec stage 4, all which are single disc.

im just looking for what you guys are using with 450 plus.

Am running almost 475whp and 377torque am on a exedy stage 2 that is sufficient up to 450wheel torque the itch for modifing never stops so safely get a twin disc or if your on a budget the stage 2 is good for awhile if you take well of your car.

I am using the ACT HDSS and it hold very well. No lock out. Just be careful with install and break-in.

keep in mind clutches are rated by torque numbers not horsepower

all im getting is the exedy twin lol, every member on here so far said exedy twin and not one person complained about it, yet all the guys at the track and the shop dont use it and cant stand them, weird.

anyone have input on the stage 4 clutchmasters or fidanza , anything with a single disc with a 6 puck???

what people say about clutches is also very subjective. some people like a stiffer pedal feel, some dont. some people dont care about chatter and noise, some do.

and if someone hates chatter and buys an exedy twin thinking it'll be quiet, of course say are going to say it sucks, regardless of its torque holding capabilites.

my suggestion to you would be to drive your friends evos with these different clutches and see what YOU like
