B&B Exhaust Installed/ long rant
Yea TURBODAWG,
that's usually the kind of crappy assed response I get from manufacturers/vendors if I call. That is why I didn't bother, B&B hear that. WTF! Now I'm even more pissed because you (B&B) had already been notified by TURBODAWG and did nothing to resolve the problem. That is just bull**** IMO.
How long you been manufacturing exhaust B&B? Long time right?
Can't figure out how to make a flange that is flat and seals? Can't figure out that you need some clearance to torque down a nut? 6 months of R&D just to make sure you get it right and don't send out problem children?
If you fix this problem and get it right why don't you send me a new exhuast free of charge and I'll take this one off (more of my valuable time) and send it back at your cost. I'm still worried that this one may start leaking down the road. I'm not taking it off and putting it back to stock, sending the defective one back and waiting on a new one. That is twice the work and time again for me because of your poor quality control.
We'll see what your response is B&B. People are watching and waiting. Will you really take care of a manufacturing defect or just continue to tell people to fill the gap with gasket sealer and that the copper gasket was never meant to really be used. It's just in there for looks and because people want a gasket that doesn't work. That's the exact kind of BS I was refering to. If you take care of it I will gladly let everyone know, if not I will gladly let everyone know.
There are a lot of vendors on here selling your product. I'm sure that you are already aware of that though.
Take care

Oh and buy the way, I also purchased a B&B Down Pipe that has not been installed yet. Anyone out there had any issues with the DP? I don't want to go through the same problems with that.
If you've installed one and there are no issues I'd like to know.
Take care

Hi Mr. Virtigo,
thank you again for your sincere concern. I really do appreciate that someone at B&B intends to get the problem resolved. Got your PM. Much appreciated. I'll be waiting to see what B&Bs reponse is on Monday. Hopefully not the same one TURBODAWG received. After hearing that it got me all worked up again
This really is a very nice exaust with a minor manufacturing issue that needs to be resolved. I just get a bit rabid because of past issues with other companies and their quality control. The B&B issue just happens to be the last in a series of unresolved quality issues with other products of which have nothing to do with my Evo or B&B.

I'm giving up for now on mine and will be contacting B&B tomorrow for a solution I have confidence in rather than try to fabricate gaskets that may fail in the near future. I'm at least glad to see them monitoring this board. For now, I guess the stock one goes back on which is not what I was hoping for.
I still think it could be one of the best exhausts out there and one of the main reasons I jumped on it, along with recommendations from others who have used B&Bs on other applications. No major bends and a custom built muffler that was somewhat hidden were big positives. If they can resolve this issue, I'm still hoping to be a satisfied customer.
Stay tuned.

I am hoping to talk with Billy Boat this week about this problem. The easiest and quickest fix for the system already sold to customers is to offer an OEM type foil gasket. These gaskets are alot thicker and more compliant than the copper gaskets. With a thicker and softer gasket material the flanges will seal correctly. This will allow for the slight warpage in the flange. I have my own ideas about how to change the flange design on further systems that are sold in the future.
mov ovr: Don't send it back yet, maybe they can get a new gasket to you. I will let you know if I find out something from them.

If you have a problem with an HKS, you will never get it fixed under warranty. HKS rarely ever admits they have any defects at all. The $1400 Racing Titanium exhaust that I bought for my Supra had a defective tip on the muffler. The silencer would not fit in the tip. I was told to send the entire piece back to them to look at and they would see if anything was wrong. If there was something wrong they would try to get it fixed. That is real good customer service there. Go without an exhaust and spend $50 shipping it back to them when it was just the muffler canister that was defective. They would not accept just the canister back, I had to send the whole exhaust system. They try to make it very hard to get any warranty work on their products.
We will see how B&B is in getting this small issue corrected. Please withhold judgement on them.. I still have not lost faith in them yet. I think they will stand by there product. We will see!!!!

I think it's good people post the problems that they have on here. I know I would be mad as hell and post problems as well. You guys need to do some more R&D, have to put that goo to make it fit is BS. I hope you fix it because for others because if you can't get it right the 1st time too bad.

I called B&B, the person I talked to was going to check with the techs. No word yet. Don't know about you guys but I'm getting a little fed up w/ my car being up on jack stands the last 3 days for a "simple" catback install.
I just heard from Virtego. The owner of B&B is out of town until next Tuesday. However the person who knows the most about the Evo systems was informed of the issue as well. We will be finding out some more information when the owner returns or perhaps sooner.
mov ovr: I think you should do what I did for the time being. Go to any auto parts store and get some silicone gasket sealer. You can use the ultra copper by Permatex or the black silicone high temp sealer from other brands. When connecting the muffler assembly flange to the midpipe flange, use the silicone sealer on both sides of the copper gasket that B&B sent. Tighten the bolts and make sure the gasket and flanges are alligned as well as possible. Let the car sit up overnight or 24 hours if possible. This will seal up the connection until B&B finds a solution. You really will like the exhaust and you will be glad that you kept it. This is very easy to do and only costs about $4. Give that a shot. I think B&B will send us out a new gasket eventually once the problem is sorted out.

I hear you mov_ovr,
If I were in your situation I wouldn't be nearly as composed.
I would have been willing to let this drop after my initial post but after finding out that it is not an isolated problem I'm not. I was surprised when others posted that they had already encountered the same problem. B&B has a good reputation and they need to suck it up and address the problem quickly or they will loose a lot of sales.
Think about this B&B almost 900 views of this post already. Calculate it however you want sales are being lost as I type.
Imagine how many views this post will have by next Tuesday and how many vendors will have been contacted with returns and complaints.
Evolutionm.net is the undisputed king for information on aftermarket Evo VIII products. Everybody comes here to find out what's hot and what's not.
You will not make your vendors/customers/potential customers happy by avoiding this minor, easily fixed problem.

This is still just a minor issue with the Exhaust. I had mine installed today at an Exhaust shop and they had no problems with it.
The sound and finish are excellent. As for horsepower, I cold feel a little better pull from 3,500rpm and up. I raced my friend today and his Evo is bone stock. The only mod I have is the Cat-Back and DP. We did a third gear roll from 40mph to 75mph and I did not seem to have any advantage over him. We were side by side every time. He may just have a stronger motor then me stock.
