My brother's Exedy twin HD makes a loud "honk" noise when you slip the clutch in 1st when the clutch is hot from stop-and-go driving. It's just the way the material is. You said it yourself that it doesn't make any noise if you quickly slip or launch the car.

I say, get used to the noise or learn/avoid situations that require a nice clutch slip to take off gently.

If the noise happens when you put it into 1st (with clutch pushed in) then you prob need to adjust your clutch up higher. Is it easy or hard to put it in 1st gear?
If the elephant noise (lol) - happens when you release the clutch, then I would wait a little more for the new clutch to adjust to the flywheel. I'm curious, how loud is it?

Besides the noise, can give us your impressions for this clutch?

How's the clutch pedal stiffness compared to the stock clutch? Does the clutch engage close to the floor or near the top of the pedal stroke?

it's a little similar stiffness to act mb7hdss and the adjustment is top of the pedal not low. it shifts great trough the gears.

Damn guys....it's the disc or discs slipping a lil bit when being engaged....just building some heat no biggie. My car does this also when feathering the clutch. Welcome to having a manly clutch.

I didn't hear any weird clutch noises that night. wait a lil more and see what happens. If it doesn't go away or gets worse after the break-in period, take it back to the shop and have the guy open it up. Call manufacturer and ask them if this might be normal during break-in period (I doubt it). Good luck.

Its a cerametallic disc and usually that sound is attributed to unsprung disc clutches which are a no no for the evo.
