New Clutch & Flywheel Noises
New Clutch & Flywheel Noises
Recently I got my act hdss clutch kit & streetlight flywheel installed by the dealer. I've been driving it for about a week now and have put just a little over 200 miles on it. I'm getting a few noises im not used to hearing. The first is a "clank" type of sound when i switch gears ( this only happens if i dont ease it into gear and it doesn't always happen). The second sound is a chattering/ vibrating type of sound that only happens when the car is under heavy load and under 2k (mostly in 5th gear). Although i dont really ever tend to be in 5th gear under 2k I was just wondering if anyone can tell me if this is normal for this setup (or at least normal until I break it in fully)?
Had the same clutch in my brothers Evo IX. The clutch gave him alot of problems with RPM Lockout. But the Problems your telling me, he never experianced it at all with this same clutch. Not unless you really took it to some shop who arent certified to work on EVOs, it can be installation problems.

Sounds normal to me. I have your exact same setup - ACT HDSS & ACT Streetlite flywheel. This is an absolute wonderful clutch to drive. It honestly feels exactly like stock except for maybe a slight increase in pressure.
Just make sure you get your clutch pedal dialed in correctly and you will have no lockout issues. But from what you are describing, the noises you are hearing are completely normal with this types of clutchs. Enjoy your clutch.
