FP Red on bearings

Hello,

Did any one tried a FP Red modified to be on bearings?
I just sent one to Turbo Dynamics-England for the bearings and to coat the hot side and the JUN exhaust manifold. I wait for the combo to come.

But i wanted to see if somebody tried that until now and what are the gains. I never had the chance to put the stock FP Red on the motor to see what it goes.

Thank you

As far as I know(AFAIK), no member of the EvoM forum has done the ballbearing conversion to an FP Red. Over on LancerRegister, on the other hand, I have read of at least one person(in Greece) who has, infact, already done this.

There are no turbo shops in the U.S. that offer the B.B. conversion for Mitsu turbos, AFAIK. It is prohibitively expensive to ship a turbo to Britain and back for this modification.

Incidentally, that fellow on LancerRegister, reported a 400 RPM drop in spoolup time on the Red after the B.B. conversion. In contrast, Most people in the U.S. that are after quick spool, seem to opt for the CBRD BBK Full turbo and not the FP Red.

EDIT: A ball bearing cartridge for a BBK-Full? Now, that's an idea!!!! Has anyone over on LancerRegister tried this yet?

i would like to add that from dynamics point of view..a ball bearing conversion, generally, extends the life of your turbo.
