Hi Guys.

I have a Japanese evo 8 which is not used much. After about 3 months of not using it I charged up the battery, let it get up to temp and went for a spin. The car was idling roughly(surging) but it sorted itself out. Works fine under no load or light load but hesitates badly after 3000rpm under load.

It feels like going lean and loosing boost and sounds like its missfiring on once cyl (sounds a bit like an impreza). It is strong up to about 3000rpm when the turbo begins to boost but the accelleration is dull as if it is loosing boost or getting lean after this. It also hesitates slightly after changing gear then picks up again and it begins to gett dull after that. Does not matter which gear I use does it always. Again under no load at all it revs perfectly with no sign of missfiring or any smoke from the exhaust pipe.


car is perfectly stock no mods at all.

Before I began checking the usual stuff I thought I would ask maybe this is a common issue?

I am having a similar problem.
When my car starts to spool around 3k, if it even hits 1psi, it will hesitate and start sounding like a subie until I let off the gas and bring the car down to not boosting...

check for torn intercooler couplers....boost leaks first place to start...next step check all vacuum lines, if everything is good start with new plugs possibly coil boots...

UICP blew off under the airbox.
I am a n00b.
I just couldn't see it in the dark but the sun made it obvious.
