Hesitation when warming up

Not sure if this is a common problem or not, but my car seems to hesitate during the first few minutes of driving immediately after starting it. If I push the pedal harder the car accelerates really slowly and sounds like it's under heavy load. Almost seems like it isn't getting enough fuel or something. Does this happen to anyone else?

Yes happens to me as well. And the car bucks and jerks like its on/off throttle. I dont know why it happens though.

Yeah, I'd chime in an also say that's normal with the factory tune. If it is still doing it after more than a mile of driving then maybe something is wrong.

It's because the turbo isn't warmed up. Mine has always done this. Even with a tune and a MBC. Just let it warm up for a minute. It's not good to run a cold car hard anyways

+1 Mine has done this stock and tuned. Doesn't much matter, if it isn't fully warmed up it's like riding a bucking horse.

Sorry to ruin the positive attitude in here, but this is not normal. Mitsubishi did not hire engineers to design a car that runs poorly when cold.

Yeah, it is a common problem, which might make it seem normal, but I assure you it is not.

care to explain? My car does the same when its cold. I would hold the gas pedal even and the car would feel like its jerking back and forth a little. Shortly after it stops when the car is warmed up more.

Could be a failing 02 sensor or fuel pump messing with the fuel trims at idle...

I assure you that bot my o2 and fuel pump are fine. If your car runs perfectly the second you fire it up you must. Have the greatest Evo on the planet. I have several friends with evos and not a single one runs perfectly when it is fired up. Granted it only takes a minute or two to get the oil running through it...

i would look into the low coolant temp timing trim causing the jerking when cold.

Mine has done it since day one of owning it and with only 5miles on it. When the car is cold and I take off without letting it warm up it hesitates and jerks. As soon as the temp needle moves it stops doing that. I have a buddy that has the same exact problem. Thats why I just wait for the temp needle to move and then I go. So I wouldnt stress over it imo.
