Which Engine Oil is the Best
we are using 15w50 dominator on our full race track evo 3 , so far weve liked the results , we noticed the car oil temperature is now lower compared to other expensive brands we have used in the past ,
this is a full race track car tuned by mr.koyama himself from JUN ...

for the ones wondering what dominator is:
That worked very well in my subaru. My evo runs dominator 10w30 and always has, works well doesn't have too bad of fuel dilution from e85 and is just a good all around oil. I did one change with the SS0 10w30 and my car did not like it, but everyone else who has run it seemed to like it.

that post you quoted was when he was using Mobile, not any more though
you know during the past 3 years, i have provided the data,,,,, Analysis labs, charts, testing, testimonials.
now we have the users coming back and backing up the data with their results, its a good feeling to see people like boom29 here on the forums using AMSOIL in a time attack car and with great results.
apagan01,
I am upgrading my turbo from the FP Green to the FP Black this coming month and should be up around the 530-550whp range. I daily drive the Evo and beat on it quite alot, both on the streets and at the track. I currently use SSO 0W-30 as well as MTL and SVG 75W-140 for the tranny and t-case/rear diff. My question is, should I continue to use the SSO or would I benefit at all from the 10W-30 Dominator oil? Very interested in whether this may be a good idea.

AMS oil, Schaffers, or Redline are all excellent oils. The best auto parts store oil is Mobil one and Valvoline VR 1 racing oil. Mike Reichen's engine builder recommends Schaffers. After 1 season of putting down between 900 and 1,050 whp his bearings looked mint. Another thing to consider is he does standing mile events and he does not have an oil cooler. The oil is doing it's job pretty damm good. Class One builds 4g63's as well as tractor pull diesel motors with compound turbo set-ups running 100 psi of boost. He said the bearings looked best when running Schaffers vs. AMS oil, Redline, or Royal Purple. The thing to remember is these true racing oils don't have as many detergents as street oil. Because of that the oil should be changed more frequently. I normally change it once a month or every 3000 miles. For cars under 600 whp changing it every 3000 miles is fine. For track cars running race gas with high boost making some serious horsepower, to change the oil more frequently is a cheap insurance policy vs. rod bearings or a bad oil pump from dirty oil.
Also cars running E85 should be running oil suited for Alcohol. Check with the manafacture which of there oil is made for alcohol. Schaffers synthetic blend and Valvoline VR1 racing oil are both recommended for alcohol.
