Help!! Throttle Sticking!!??
Hi guys im new on here from Tasmania (australia) and VERY new to the world of EVO's..... Traded my LS1 V8 on a jspec evo7 yesterday....
LOVING IT! Although I am experiencing 1 problem
When it winds up and gets over 5000rpm and I go to shift the throttle sticks and takes it straight to the limiter!!!
Now it doesnt do it below 5000 rpm and it doesnt do it without the engine running and the cable and spring on the t/b seem to both be fine and the spring is returning the way it should be....
Just wondering if anyone had heard of or experienced this...? Cause it had me a tad worried as its my 1st import and my 1st turbo car!!!

my hks is vented to atmosphere and it my car has the same problem it started a few months after the bov was installed and during the cold weather im thinking that in my case my bov is getting stuck and i need to grease it cuz the revs shoot up to rev limiter then i hear my bov go off so i think its either sticking or needs to get tuned...im gonna try greasing it soon cuz that really seems to bethe problem.

It's the current fuel and timing tables that your car's computer is referring too when you go through the revs. Chances are, if your car was modified at all, or if the tables were enhanced to provide more power through the car's ECU --- then the tuner could have inadvertently altered something causing your throttle hang.
Are there any Evo tuners in your area? I'd start with a call to one of them.

If you look at the BOV, is there a hose going back into the intake, or is it just coming out of the upper Intercooler pipe and thats it..
If there is a hose going back to intake it's Recirculated...
If not it is VTA..
Sounds like the clutch to me..
How much HP you got, and how many miles on the Clutch?
Typical clutch going bad, is it's revving to a high rpm when you press clutch pedal and then falling at gear change.
Do you have a video cam..
That would help alot..
If so, go video the rpm guage while it's doing it..

Someone with a very similar problem recently posted a thread : https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...s-5500rpm.html
It turned out that there was a styrofoam packing peanut stuck in the throttle body:
So you might want to take off your throttle body to see if anything is getting caught.

I figured out my problem this morning!
I was reving the car up in my driveway building little boost, the car was idleing like **** but few rev ups and she sky rockets to 6+k this time and i see the throttle stuck i shut the car off cause i wanted it to stay stuck open to diagnose where it was getting stuck from everything was fine!!! so im playing with the throttle manually while the car is off and i notice its sticking im like wtf? so i take my IC pipe off and there is a Packing Peanut stuck to my throttle plate!!! i took it off and the car runs and boost beatiful again and i didnt have to de-mod ^_^ thanks for the help

check the throttle plate screws as well once you take the upper IC pipe off. Mine did the same and come to find out my plate was getting stuck open cause the plate was loose. like others said it could also be tuning for the throttle hang
