Trans Help

I have a IX and im doing the clutch on it. This is my first time pulling the trans out so i need some help from you guys. Everything is disconnected and out, the only this is that it wont fully pull all the way out and drop. yes i remembered to do the clip, bt it seems like the transfer case is holding it in where the shaft goes thru the trans to the cv. What am i missing here? Is there any tricks at all???

I feel stupid asking this because its probably somthing really simple that im just missing. any help would be appriciated thanks guys.

I would reccommend checking off all the connections using evomoto's guide. Make sure you have everything disconnected.

Yeah you only need to remove the drivers side input shaft

After you unclip the TOB you just have to pry it off a bit.

You need a slide hammer with a bolt welded to the end to remove the shaft between the tranny and tcase. Also you need to remove the 6 tcase bolts that connect it to the tranny. One is behind the ACD line which you should remove temporarily to get the 6th bolt out. Once you get the car back together if you've removed that line you need to bleed the ACD system (some people remove that bolt without removing the line.. more trouble than it's worth) Also there is a ground wire that goes from the engine to the firewall that you should remove to get the engine to move forward / down enough to make tranny removal easier. Since you have the 6 speed you might also find that loosening (not removing) the steering rack will give you an extra inch of clearance to remove / re-install the transmission.

Here's the Evo Moto how-to

Also here's a recent thread of someone that ran into a few issues but there's some pics and more advice in there.

if it only comes out about a inch and stops then you didnt release the TOB yet.
