I'm looking at buying a 2004 Evo. It does NOT have ACD, so it has a 9.8 turbine housing right? Also, more importantly, I tried searching, but only found RS info. The non-ACD 2004's do NOT have a front LSD, correct? I know there are the later 2004's with ACD and the 10.5 housing, but if I remember correctly, they still didn't have front LSD.

I already have AMSoil MTG GL-4 on order and was wondering if I'd be able to use it in a 2004 Evo. Thanks

I was not aware of this distinction. I thought that all 2004 Evos came with the 10.5 cm turbine housing(At least the USDM ones did, I think?).

 

'05 was the first year for the 10.5 housing.

 

Alright. I was more concerned about the LSD. So I'll be able to use my GL-4 MTG I got? That's good. The 10.5 housing question was an after thought as I was making the post

This is if I decide to buy the Evo anyway :-/ I might not be able to afford another Evo

 

So a 2005 Evo, with ACD has a facotry front LSD, which I wouldn't be able to use a GL-4 trans fluid. I'd need GL-5? Or is the LSD only available in the IX's and VIII RS's?

 

The 04 only has the lsd in front on the rs. I believe that all 05 had an acd and a lsd.

All Evo 5-speeds use the same GL-4 transmission fluid and GL-5 transer case/rear differential fluid; same as whats used in DSM's too.
