Drop the motor and tranny as a whole on the ground. Do not pull the motor up and out, this will take even more time.

^^^^ yes hes saying bring the motor out threw the bottom lol

going out the top does take more time and moving things around but it can be done if you take your time.

When i pulled my motor, I just had my block sitting on a 2x4 on my jack, and my tranny on my tranny jack strapped down.. I just lowered them both and slide them from under the car... IMO for a DIY, its alot easyier then goin out the top....

in the end i'll prob just tow it to my work, and use the lift to drop it from the bottom ...

also when you speak of dropping it from the bottom , did you remove the sub-frame?

Yes you need to drop the sub frame to do it from the bottom. I've done it from the top plenty of times so you could go either way. Good luck.

no you dont need to drop the subframe to pull it out the bottom.... just pull your t-case out first then drop the motor it will save you alot of work..

You dont need to drop the subframe, remove the t case completly and dont forget to first seperate the TOB so when you have the engine/transmission out of the car it will just seperate easily. I have done it now 3 times and its not hard at all. Drop it from the bottom.

in my eyes its not that much work to remove the sub-frame.... I've pulled the sub frame twice to do the clutch&tcase... it made it much easier ....

but if you say it can be pulled from the top, how is it easier to go out the bottom???

You do NOT need to drop the subframe...Pull the t-case, obviously drop the bar with the tranny motor mount on it, then hoist the motor down easily onto something soft. When motor and tranny are on the ground, jack/hoist the front of the car up high enough to get the motor out from the bottom. It's easy.

I dropped mine on a creeper to slide it out, basically ruined the creeper:

I would honestly say that after doing this many times, if you do not have a lift then it would be much easier to just pull it up and out with the hoist...its not that bad.
