life expectancy of evo IX battery?
Bumping an old thread, bc this is the only one I found on stock battery longevity.
I had to jump my '03 8, for the first time ever, this morning. It's the original stocker, and I'm at 42K. It's made it through 8 TX summers, so I'm pretty pleased with that.

OK, following up since my battery really did die, finally.
That previous time I posted, I had been working on the car one weekend, while listening to the radio, which depleted it. But it recovered once I drove it for a few days.
This time though, it barely gave me any warning. Earlier this week, I think I noticed a few times when it was slightly slower to crank, but that was it. Then yesterday morning, I got nothing but "click".
Still ~8 years is a pretty good run for a stocker.

The same thing happened to me last weekend. I started the car in the morning to head out and noticed it was a little bit slow to crank. A few hours later when it was time to head home it was even slower to crank but still started and drove fine.
The next morning it was completely dead.
I got just under 63k out of the stocker.

Mine died on vacation in DC last week. Autozone tested and told me I had a bad alternator. Luckily I researched it and realized it was just a battery not holding charge. Love the car people working at Autozone.
If you store the car all winter with no battery tender the batter will wear out. Batterys liked to be used and if you charge them by driving the car often they will last longer than a track car battery/ summer only car.
