Can I use stock head gasket with 86mm bore?

The motor I have is already .020 over & needs to be bored again (scoring). This will put it at .040 over (86mm). I had done previous research & found that the stock head gasket is great, does anyone know if I can use it with an 86mm bore or if I need to get something diffrent? What would you guys reccomend? Thanx.

My buddy just used a stock gasket with his motor and it was 85.5mm... I suspect 86mm would be ok, I'm sure someone else will chime in.

If you have the money, my tuner Mark Shead, also Simon Norris of Norris Designs, and quite a few other people I respect really like the HKS gasket, which is what I use. Only problem is it is very pricey ($250).

What happened with the scoring on your motor? Any pics?

Buschur and ams both recommended the stock headgasket for my 2.3l build. My estimated whp is around 600. I think the stock headgasket is the way to go.

I know it's plenty strong enough, but I can't find the specs to know what bore size it is. I don't know if it will work with an 86mm bore. I've got a complete engine gasket kit on the way so I'll measure it when it gets here I guess.

Running into the same question.

Did you use the OEM or not?

Nevermind. Just checked again and found out the stock gasket has a 86,1mm bore.

You can use the oem gasket from 4g64 dohc galant. Make sure the head is machined for the combo by contacting burschurs as well as having it inspected for flatness cracks etc.
