I'm about to order an exhaust and boost controller. I'm leaning towards a MBC vs EBC simply due to price when they both do the same thing albeit one is nearly half the price of the other. I don't need all the fancy shmancy stuff the EBC's offer, I just want it to control boost. Aside from that any suggestions on a good MBC?

Also any suggestions for exhaust? Going fast is my main concern with price trailing slowly behind. Really I doubt many exhaust systems vary that greatly . For some reason I'm drawn to the Bushur Racing exhaust and the HKS Hi Power Hiper exhaust.

Well I have never used a MBC before but from what hear the BOOST always falls off or taper down using MBC thats why people get EBC. And OVERBOOST protection IS A MUST HAVE for TURBO cars. Because nobody will keep their eyes on the gauge forever, you can try getting budget ebcs like Profec B those will do just fine.

 

I would go with the EBC versus the MBC just because of the overboost protection and like Jinu0808 said the MBC has more of a tendancy to bleed off after a certain point. We have an array of electronic boost controllers available for very reasonable prices. As far as exhaust I myself am going with the HKS Hi-Power and the HKS down-pipe for one of my first mod.

 

What he said. The EVO is my first turbo car and the limiter and waste gate management of the Greddy profec b Spec II saved me in the beginning when I was tuning the boost. from overboost. You can do it with a gauge and very small clicks, but why take the chance. A good EBC is a gauge, limiter, warning, and more finite tunablity for boost. No surging, earlier turbo response, ect.... all these things can be tuned with an EBC Save your money and go EBC.

If you don't that is fine also, there are plenty of cars with MBC doing just fine.
