Overboost Problem

Hey all,

I hate to make another thread, but I've searched and need more help.

What is going on with my car...This just started about 2 days ago when I tried to adjust a few things in ecuflash and after I installed new spark plugs.

Well the symptoms are, the car at idle is very very rich. 10.0 AFR. Sometimes it jumps back and forth from 10.0 to 17.0 AFR. While its doing that, the RPM's jump from 1000-600rpm. If it doesn't do those 2 things, it just dies.

First I thought I blew my head gasket, but had none of the symptons of that. So I crossed that out.

Second, I thought it was my spark plugs. I've regapped them, changed back to stock, made sure all the connectors are on tight, and still nothing.

I flashed a map that was still good, and still nothing.

Then I thought it was my injectors. I upgraded to 680cc about 2 months ago and why would they go out now?

I'm now starting to think its a boost leak somewhere or a vacuum line has blown off. Thing is, my boost gauge reads exactly the same.

I do get a cel and it says its an turbo overboost condition problem.

I'm just lost right now and would rather not go to a stealership. I'm sure others have came across this problem and I would like to know how they solved them. I've read some other threads here, but no one has said how they solved it.

Or take it to a shop and have them look at your tune.

Ok, I've read alittle more. People have said they changed all their lines and clean their egr valve and it fixed the problem. I'll do this today and see what happens. I'm also thinking it could be the fuel regulator.

do you have any codes??? your describing the same problem that my buddy had. it happend to be the plug to the mass air flow sensor, which happend to blow a resistor in the ecu and cause a 3 week headake. dont know if this might help but good luck.

I am throwing a turbo over boost condition code, I think PO123 or something. It really could be a number of things. I was thinking the MAF, but I just cleaned that. I could try using a friends maf and see what happens. I've also read it could be the bypass valve, but i'm still using the stock one. Could alot of oil getting into the hard pipe cause that code?

So I should check my ecu where? I read on here some guy toasted his ecu and it caused big problems, but he had other codes while I only have 1.

Still don't have it, but I think its a tuning error. I kept changing my maps and now the idle and cruise are fine, but when I go WOT, it runs very rich. I tried downloading the 1.41 ecuflash again and tried installing a somewhat stock flash and not much happened. I have to try another laptop because I think I messed my xml files up somehow. Trying to install tephra mods and probably deleted something?

I've gone through all the maps over and over again and can't find anything wrong, I must be missing something.

I still think its something with my MAF or fuel system.

For that code you are throwing, your tune is not set up properly to allow higher boost/load and is making the CEL.

Your rich condition at idle is a different problem all together. Could be the injector scaling (tune), or it could be something different all together..

Hope it helps.

everything is better now. It was something in the tune. My .xml file was totally messed up. Had to use a friends laptop with ecuflash to flash my ecu with a previous map and uploaded a good .xml file.
