Clutch Job

I bought an ACT clutch kit and exedy flywheel a few weeks ago and have finally decided to install them. This is by far the most ridiculous install I have ever crossed paths with. I read the how to on Evomoto.com which was a pretty good guide line, but there are a lot of things that just didn't work out. For one thing to get the tranny out I had to drop the subframe. Then when installing the transmission the retainer ring on the metal piece in the center of the pressure plate got loose, I found it sitting on top of the subframe while installing the rear motor mount, so out came the tranny once again. Also the torque spec I got for the bolts which fasten the tranny to the block was 81 ft lbs. This is apparently enough to snap that **** right in half so I'll be putting in a heli coil tomorrow. Tomorrow is the third day so hopefully it will be out. Wondering if anyone else encountered any of these problems? Also does anyone know the individual sizes on the 6 bolts which hold the tranny onto the block?

14mm.... dont stress... and you dont need to torque the bolts from the trans/block.. just zoom them in with a 3/8 impact or air ratchet... you are thinking WAY too much.. clips are ALWAYS bad about falling out of the pressure plates... just have to be carefull... done ALOT of trans removals and never lowered the cradle.

Lol yeah I kind of thought that was an O.D. maneuver but that **** would not drop any other way, it kept getting caught. Regardless what's done is done, just hope this ends tomorrow, I can't even remember what it feels like to drive an evo without a slipping clutch.

Alright so I finally finished my clutch today. Everything went pretty good, still need to adjust my pedal and do an alignment but I'll do that tomorrow. I know a lot of people have problems shifting at high rpms after installing the ACT clutch kit, but I'm having a slightly different problem. At first when I reved my car up in neutral, it would stumble at 3k and then stop at 4500 like it was hitting a rev limiter. After a few minutes it reved past 3k with no problems but now I cannot get the car past 4500 pms. I know I shouldn't be reving that high for 500 miles anyway but I couldn't help noticing this problem and can't really imagine why a clutch would make this happen. I have a service engine light soon light, I highly doubt this would throw the car into some kind of limp mode but that's the only thought I have so far. Does anyone have any thoughts on this or a similar experience?

Of course lol. I don't think it's a mechanical problem. I'm almost positive there's a signal issue, but the only two sensors I remember unplugging were the VSS in back of the tranny and my reverse light. But my speedometer works fine and so do my reverse lights. I'ma put a scanner on it today and see what's up.

How long did it take you over all? What flywheel bolts did you use?

Go to auto zone and find out what code you are throwing.

Damn I remember when I had the SRT-4 if we had a Check Engine Light all we had to do was this pedal tap and ignition on/off trick which would then show us the code its throwing for the CEL. Then we would just look up the code online and we'd know exactly what sensor it was.

Today I was going to do my clutch as well. I took off the battery/tray, unplugged the 2 sensors (VSS, reverse light) , unbolted slave cylinder, and removed shifter cables. Next step was to go under the car but my friend who has my jack stands and other tools needed was unable to make it. So I ended puting everything back. Freaking sucks.
