clutch!! pita

so i just got done fighting with my tranny for about 1hr..... my clutch started locking me out so i bought a act 6 puck disc to replace my exedy disc.... everything was smooth, got the tranny off in about 2 hrs.... installed the disc, than i tried putting the tranny back in with a jack, can you say FAIL!!!
never ever again will i use a floor jack to install the tranny...
last time i did my clutch i completely removed the subframe and tc and had a tranny jack ...alot easier that way since theirs so much more room..... so tonight i just gave up for the night... i will finish it tomorrow
i just thought i shared this with you guys

It took a bit of time to get mine in with the subframe still in. Two very knowledgable/mechanically inclined friends and I got our friends in in about 15 minutes the other night using just a tranny jack with the subframe still in. He went in to order food and check on his dog, came back out and the tranny was in. Have some friends help and get a tranny jack. I'll never recommend dropping the subframe after seeing us get it in in a matter of minutes.

I just use a strong guy to lift mine in there. Comes out in 5 min, goes in in 10 min. I can do clutch jobs in 4 hours now using someone alot stronger then me. F a floor jack for that.

Usually if I'm by myself, I pick it up with a engine hoist.

You guys are bad a$$.. I had a heck of a time getting mine out and in with a certified mechanic. It prolly took about 16 man hours total. I did not drop the sub-frame and my next job I will at least have an engine hoist to help. Anyway, glad you got it in..

Well then if that's the case Curt I might just have to employ your services over the winter lol.

Glad you at least swapped the train horns over to the srt, you going to head down to Droptoberfest this year?

Every time I've replaced my clutch on the Evo I said it would be the last time! I've now done it four times, and I've never dropped the subframe. The EVO is a royal PITA compared to other cars I've had. I did my last one two weeks ago, I swear it's my last! Getting too old to spend all day on my back under a car on jack stands.

Pretty cool, i'm in the process of taking out my clutch masters and getting an exedy twin in. Can't wait till I get it back on the dyno!

OH HOW I FEEL YOUR PAIN. I am trying to put my tranny back in and I am having no luck. Not sure if the 5sp is set up like the 6sp but I am having a hell of a time getting the shifter counterweights to clear the inner fender well. I also just popped the wedge collar out so had to remove my clutch and fix that. Good luck.. Let me know what tricks you used to get it in..

All I did was lower the sub frame a couple of inches just to give me enough room to put the trany

The 6sp must be different. I am going to have to remove the shifter assembly to get it to fit. Hope it goes back together.
