I feel like they are too busy....the time has been increasing sicne I sent it to them originally. I was told a week now its up to 4. Who else would you guys recommend to rebuild a transmission? Quick turnaround time but just as reputable as Shep. I've already left a message for jackstransmissions. I need to make my mind up before the end of the day today.

to the OP jacksontransmission is pretty good too
i would jus say its a matter of preference..
and dont worry.. your not the only one who has been delayed by SHEP

 

unfortunately thats the price you pay by going with the best.
Also this happens with all shops IMO. People jsut run behind. Trust me it sucks, but if you need to rely on someone else, that means you work on their time tables.

I wish a lot more people realize this. A lot of people can promise quick turnaround, but one gets what they pay for. As long as what you get back meets and exceeds your quality expectations, then it's all good. All I ever hear is SHEP, so there's definitely a good thing going on in that house.

 

I live 3 miles from JacksTransmissions. Send it to him and be done with it. If you need me to relay a message to him for you, I can do it tonight. Just PM me.

Mike you don't think that its been a little excessive. I mean if I was told "it could take a month" up front then I could mentally be prepared for that but to wait 4 weeks and then be told it will be another 4 weeks (thats what they told my mechanic today. I called them yesterday and they told me 2 weeks). Its the whole underpromise and over deliver thing.

The guy helping me put my car back together said all he ever heard was shep and I agree when someone wants their transmission rebuilt that usually one of the top 2 or 3 names people say. The constant moving target dates are whats messing with me the most. Like I said I don't mind the wait as long as I'm told upfront about the length of time. I kinda feel liek they got me by the short and curly's now that they have my tcase and transmission.

I guess I'm just upset right now. I'm afraid at the end of 4 weeks its going be another"2 weeks" or "4 weeks"....where does it end. It seems like TRE and jacks has a good reputation here. If I can get quality work done in the "time" quoted then I'm all for it.

Keep in mind I was originally told a week turnaround before we even sent the transmission in.

 

How's the quality of their work? First I ever heard of them.

 

Ive waited longer than 4 weeks before but i understand the issue.. You were told 1 week and its been 4.. Call John and talk things over with him.. Posting here for advice wont resolve the wait time issue.. Good luck..

my car is there right now. there located in howell nj. there work is bar far proven, reliable and one of the best in this industry. not good enough for you? do a little searching on them and there services and you will not be disappointed. they specialize in evo/dsm drivetrain. and much more.

 

shep or tre is all i hear on the forums... both are good and i've heard that the wait time can be long... good things take time... better to have it done right the first time...

 

go to jacks......had a full xmsn built for me & installed in 2 days. (plus a rebuilt t-case/diff inst too).
