You can swap them into an IX, just get the ecu and harness etc.

AMS Makes the stroker for both the IV and IX

But then again you can get the whole motor for about 15G, I wouldn't hesitate to get either the 2.1L or 2.3, the 2.1 is more or less for drag racing.

Bump...for more replies .

Iam on the same boat right now, can't decide if I should go 2.0 or 2.3 . I think the biggest turbo I would go with would be Black or HTA3582.

MODS please move thread to correct place.
Thanks!!

I love my 2.3. It revs to 9k and pushes the ams 850r like stock. Its the ams 2.3rr, thats what makes the rev difference. I think as far as daily, the torque is nice and the spool is like late 3k's. Now as far as revs go, its comparable to a built 2l. All in all, a high reving 2.3l is where its at.

not sure yet, didn't get to drive mine. Hopefully next week I will be able to answer your question. All I know is I had all solid mounts on my car and when i started it up in garage it shook to much so i pulled all the mounts and put stock ones back on, the 2.3 + bs elim blows for vibration on solid mounts for a DD.

If I had to do it again, I would probably do a 2.0 fully built, built head,6262 turbo and call it a day

E85 yes, and I'm gonna take it to ivey and say give me 600whp. i want atleast 550wtq... I love how the torque makes the car feel. Im debating on speed density right now before I take it over to him.

Loving mine.. I also upped the compression to 9.0:1 and went .020 over. I am loving it, the extra torque is great for off boost daily driving. The extra torque is SEX when you mash second gear and lose traction. A few of the things I like the best is we have some long steep up hill climbs around my area. To maintain 65-70 mph I would usually be about 3 psi, now I'm still in vac.. 5th gear accel. on the freeway to pass someone is much better too.

Is the gearing really that bad? Do you have stock gearing for a IX? If not, how about getting longer gears like the VIII has?

I've contemplated doing this. Built 4g64 for ultra fast spool and massive low torque.

I'm still on the fence about it, keep the comments coming.
