newbie:Questions on EVO MR boost

hey guys I rarely go on this site since i dont own a evo but my brother does. He installed the ams manual boost controller about a hour ago and we are not sure how many psi we can turn it up.
1. what is the stock boost setting on a EVO MR 06 and what would be a safe boost setting on 93octane.

2. What boost could you run on 110 octane

3. does anybody know how to read the stock boost gauge???

If you guys could help me and my brother out we would appreciate it. Thankyou

Has the car been tuned?

I am not sure about 93, as we only have 91, but my evo is tuned to 24PSI on 91 if that helps.

1. I believe that stock boost on an Evo IX is 20.4 psi @ 3500 rpm, tapering to about 17 psi by about 6,500 rpm. Determing how much boost you can safely run would depend greatly on supporting mods and tune.

2. Again, depends on supporting mods and tune.

3. The stock MR boost gauge is shown in bar. 1 bar is equal to about 14.5038 psi. You can use this link for more conversion of bar to psi and vise versa. http://www.centauro-owners.com/articles/psibar.html

1) make sure you get a tune before you start playing with the boost parameters on the car. Even a quick e-mail tune over a tatrix cable would suffice for now. I have always heard that stock boost for a 9 MR is right around 20 psi peak, but that doesn't hold near the top end, it tapers off for sure (to around 17 i think...). You could crank up the juice to around 22-3 temporarily until you get that tune and not see problems, but you definitely won't reap the power you would if you get the A/F ratio right along with that pressure.

2) I run 115 leaded race gas and have my boost turned up to right around 28 psi. I got my ECU retuned by jestr tuning (jestrtuning.com) specifically for all my mods and that was the setting he recommended. Best bet is to ask a self-tuner or a tuning shop professional as to the setup and level that is best for you... (I don't know if you are an experienced mechanic or not, but watch with race gas, especially leaded as it can clog your cat and o2 sensors, unless you removed them... for off road purposes only, of course...)

3) Kdash was right 1 bar = 14.5 psi so the stock boost gauge that came with the car goes up to 1.5 bar if i remember so it will top out at 22 psi. Anything more than that and the reading is pretty much useless, i have yet to switch mine out so it is funny to see the needle run around the spindle...
