Started to hear a noise..

I started to hear a noise today. It sounds like a light grinding/rattling noise when the car is idling. However, when I push the clutch pedal in the noise goes away. Any ideas on what this could be.

I am currently still on the stock clutch at 41k miles and have not done any maitenance or changes lately that could be a cause.

Mods are in my signature. Thanks in advance!!

Not likely, Adjusting the pedal is more for preferance of feel of when the clutch engages. But having it adjusted too low could have some consequences in your tranny. Throw out bearings go out periodically. you dont really know when they will go bad. Its a wear and tare item. But as far as replacing it, If you can deal with the noise I would leave it, other wise you gotta pull the tranny down jus as if you were doing a clutch job! Hope that helps with anything!

It is normal. It is the throwout bearing. It is supposed to go away when you press the pedal. There is no such part as the "main shaft".

Stop talking to non-Evo mechanics. They don't know their *** from a hole in the ground.

I think "main shaft" is the procedure they use to steal your money in the Mercedes service department there.
