hallman mbc question

Hey guys,

Does have a diagram of the hallman mbc assembly? I've been having issues with mine. Last night I unscrewed the nipple opposite of the cable and I just saw a spring in there. Isn't there also supossed to be a ball in there? Is it supossed to sit on the spring? I think mine might have fell out sometime in the past without me noticing and has been causing the mbc not to function. I would appreciate any help with this. A diagram of the assembly would help. Thanks

-fred

if there was no ball, the boost controller would basically allow the turbo to keep boosting with no limit...

but yes its supposed to be a ball then a spring on top of the ball then the cap

The part that allows you to adjust the boost +/- is what he's talking about.

If there is no ball then the pressure is going straight through the MBC to the wastegate and limiting the boost to wastegate pressure, which is about 12psi (i think, maybe more?) so it won't allow the turbo to boost to no limit. I think you're thinking of if you hook it up backwards. That will make it so the pressure never gets to the wastegate because the ball is constantly blocking the airway, and never actually gets to open the waste gate making the turbo boost to no end! bad news.
