Magnus v5 intake + Boomba 75mm TB = Problems

I thought this might be a simple bolt on but its never that easy...

First, the Boomba 75mm TB needs a spacer otherwise the throttle pulley and tension spring will hit the manifold. No problem since it already comes with one BUT it necks down to fit the stock intake and the spacer holes are threaded which means I have to drill out the threaded holes and purchase longer bolts. I'll also need to have the spacer machined so it doesn't neck down and open it to 75mm. I tried to use the Magnus spacer /adapter but that will not work with the Boomba TB since the Boomba o-ring crosses one of the threaded holes and it would also have to be enlarged to 75mm.

Next, the 4 bolt holes in the Magnus v5 intake doesn't perfectly match the Boomba TB. The hole spacing is a tad larger than the Boomba spacing. This means I will have to hone out the TB holes to match. I wasn't sure which manufacture was off on the hole spacing but after purchasing a stock Ford TB gasket, it looks to be Magnus holes are the ones that are off.

Next probem is the gaskets. Magnus gives you the thick white plastic gasket that you can use with its adapter but that gasket can't be used with the Boomba since the inner hole is too large and won't seal the Boomba spacer or TB. I'll have to use the Ford gasket to make these parts seal correctly.

Anyway, just wanted to mention these issues in case anyone else wants to run the same combo. I'll try to post some pictures of these issues later.

You have two options:

1) Use our TB spacer kit
2) Use our weld on adaptor and weld it to the manifold flange.

Both weld on adaptor and spacer kit are in stock and available for purchase through our web site.

Its not so much the TB, its the two parts fitting together. In the end when the parts are fitted together, the 75mm will out perform the 65mm plus it looks much better!

Thanks! I'd rather not weld anything. I was told when I purchased the Boomba TB that it wouldn't need anything to fit it to the Magnus v5 intake. Now I need to purchase a $50 spacer... I'll call you today and order this. Besides the fitment problems, I'm really impressed with the quality and design of the Boomba TB.

Edit: Called to order a spacer but got VM so I left a message.

I just want to clarify that the Boomba TB is not the problem here. The blame falls mostly on me since I didn't know I had to get the special spacer and bolts shown above. Props for Boomba for coming in this thread and suggesting what I need.

Not so happy with the Magnus bolt holes that are off. I shouldn't have to hone out my TB holes to make it fit. I might give Magnus a call.

I would definitely let Marco know of the issue in case something needs to be addressed. It could be a onetime issue, but if it’s more wide-spread bringing the issue to the attention of the Vendor is crucial in assuring future products are within a proper specification and potential customers are not affected.

I talked to Magnus and they were going to look at this and address the problem immediately for future manifolds. I also tried a Ford BBK TB with the same issues as the Boomba. For now, I'll have to hone out the holes on my TB.

Good to hear. What kind of boost are you running with the Boomba? Do you feel you gained some HP over the standard TB's?

Great to hear about the 48psi Mike! Thats awesome!

Well, Margaret from Boomba returned my call and was very helpful. She even called me back and was waiting for my order so she could get it in the mail for quicker delivery. I went ahead and ordered the spacer on their site and within 5 minutes, I had a delivery confirmation saying it was shipped. NOW THAT IS SERVICE! I have to say Boomba is a top notch company with great customer service.

I want to stress again that there is nothing wrong with the Boomba TB. Just be sure to order the straight through adapter with the longer bolts. This throttle body is very impressive and well made. I'm also glad to hear Mike is running 48psi with no problems with the Boomba TB.

I am pretty sure the Magnus V5 is drilled for a q45 TB. Not a ford bolt pattern.

I was told yesterday by Magnus its the Ford 86-92 bolt pattern. 88mm I believe is the bolt pattern. You're still running the stock TB correct?
