I tend to agree -- Consider FMIC and SMIC's that use single interior fin designs.

They dont cool for ****. Now - Remove those interior fins altogether. Now how well does it cool?

Now consider the amount of surface area you have created by all those little tubes in the FMIC and how little it cooled the air -- VS the little surface area by comparison of the IM and trying to heat the air..

I think a1091156 has a valid point. I bet the thermal gaskets dont do **** for power..

I completely agree with this. Air is an insulator, with a thermal conductivity of about .024 W/mK. Aluminum, in comparison, has a thermal conductivity of 250 W/mK. The amount of air moving through the IM at WOT has no chance of heating up if the IM is at a higher temp.

There was a similar question in a related post where someone was asking about his hot IC pipes and whether they would affect his IATs. In short, no, they won't. At fast moving air conditions, there simply isn't enough time for a poorly conducting air mass to transfer the heat.
