P0300 on my IX - 33k
P0300 on my IX - 33k
Hello,
I drove my car down the street from work the other day and it took a crap on me. It started to stutter really bad and I could not drive it beyond 5 mph. The car died on me a couple of times at full stops as I drove it back to the parking lot. I ended up getting it towed to my mechanic where he found that it was throwing the P0300 code. This obviously led me to search about it where I have found that this is a fairly common issue. In almost all cases I have read about, the P0300 code typically occurs while driving, where in my case I can't really drive my car at all
. My mechanic said that he unplugged the MAF sensor and that seemed to allow the car drive a bit better, but when he plugged it back in, it would drive just as how I described it above. He even tried a different MAF sensor from another Evo and the issue is still the same. I've read about different possible solutions/causes: bad plugs, faulty injector(s), tranny chatter causing harmonic imbalance, Creader, TSP reflash, etc...I figure I'll start with replacing the plugs since that seems to be the cheapest route. Can anyone give me any advice or point me in the right direction? This is the first time my car has thrown a code and I haven't done any mods recently.
TIA

i read something about this but not sure how to go about it. I'm assuming i need a tactrix cable? i used to have one but it got left behind when my last evo got wrecked. my current car was tuned at tuning tech when the previous owner had it. that was about 15k miles ago and the bolt-ons were slightly different and tranny was stock. i haven't had it re-tuned since.

Why? So they can charge you a **** ton of money to try and diagnose the problem and have no answer? Start by taking a look at all your plugs and making sure there is no air getting into the intake after the MAF then report back. If the p0300 is the only code you are throwing, it is probably bad plugs or a loose spark plug wire/coil.

I see lots of mods in your sig, who's your tuner?
