Thanks for the info!

Already working with Mike on some items for my whole build. You price match or beat prices right?

My 2.2 4g63 sees 8850 regularly. Track days the limiter will be bumped to 9400 for 4th gear. My build is a 63 block, k1 crank, r&r 153mm billet I-beams, 9.0:1 CR. I love the snappy response from the lighter rotating assembly and it spools my hta86 before 5k rpm in 3rd. This with a heavily ported head, and s3 cams. You can't go wrong with the 2.2. Displacement AND revs like a motorcycle.

That's where I plan my 2.2 4G64 to rev to if I can keep power up there with my DBB Red and a set of R2s. 4G64 Block, Manley Billet Crank, R&R 159mm I-beams, 9.3:1 CR, Curt Brown Head, MAP Rev3 IM.

Good info. I also see that youre running a 153mm rod though which gives you a better r/s ratio. Im guessing you have the English Racing 2.2?

The pistons I have from manley say theyre for a 2.1l, but im guessing everyone rounds up when talking about the 2.2's?

2.1 pistons are similar to the 2.2 but not exactly the same.

Hmm I don't see a piston from Manley stating they are for a 2.2l, all are to make a 2.1l engine. Do they even make one? I'd like a high comp 2.2l piston preferably from manley as they will exchange my pistons for some new ones.

Thanks
Josh

Do you know if you will have to notch the block for a 2.2 4G63?
I'm thinking of going the same route as you since I have a good set of Oliver 150mm rods. I almost wish I didn't so i could have a reason to buy a set of 153mm rods and off the shelf 2.0 pistons

Not sure yet. I'll probably have everything for this build in the next few weeks. Still have to order a crank. I'll update this when I find out if no one else chimes in by then

The 153 rods don't mate to an off the shelf piston. English Racing uses a custom piston for the 94/153 2.2L

Block clearancing depends on the connecting rod used.

darn it I thought I was going to be in the clear as far as Pistons were concerned. 2.2L 94mm crank 150mm rods moves the pin down 3mm further into the piston skirt? Basically the opposite of what the 2.3 piston setup does???

2.2 seems to be popular with JDM tuners. JUN and Tomei probably still make stroker kits.
