Need clutch inputs

I need a clutch already, have owned the car for about 2 weeks and it has started to slip, has 44xxx on the stock clutch so its about time since it just recently had mods put on the car.

I plan on daily driving the car, like everywhere, but my plans in the future are to have around 450hp on pump gas and 550+all out.

So I cant decide on which clutch to get
ACT
Quartermaster
Exedy

ACT is cheap but I dont want lockout

Quartermaster is good, but I hear it wont last long on the street..........which I dont understand why that is?

Exedy is good, but expensive and hubs seem to break from what I have been reading.

So Could you guys help me with these options? or others.

I have the ACT HDSS and hate it. Lockout is pretty bad.

I am going to get the Quartermaster next. I've never heard what you're saying about the short life on the street. All I have heard is that they take anything you throw at them.

This question is asked every day on here. Search this site for other peoples input/expierences on the various clutches you listed. There is probably eleventy billion posts on all the clutches. You, in the end, will have to decide for yourself. You get what you pay for.

This question is asked way too much. I say do all the reasearch you can first, and if you searched CORRECTLY, this question would never come up. Its like asking "What do you guys think I should have with my Pancakes this morning?"

I'm thinking maple syrup, sausage, hash browns, and cranberry juice.

Seriously though, search around, or scroll through of few pages of threads, this question is asked every day it seems like and every day the same people answer.

If you go the ACT route check out their sprung 6-puck instead of the street disc. If you go the twin route check out CBRD's and Competition's new offerings.

All these clutch opions or anyone that you hear is gonna be based on experience or he said she said. This is what ive heard and have witnessed a few times.

I have the fidanza 4.3 and its starting to lock me out and not engauge all the way now and starting to gring going into some of the gears. If your gonna put a clutch in your car put a twin in it that way you dont have to do it twice.

Now ive heard the exedy twin dosent last that long and will soon have to be rebuilt after so many lauches but it is what shep recomends as one of the best clutches.

With the quatermaster there is a ton of decel noise and the vibration is bad for the trans but the clutch will hold anything u throw at it like said above.

other than this info ive given ya only other thing i can recomend is search.. goodluck.

For your hp goals the ACT HDSS may not be capable / recommended ....

I'd PM IndyEvo and ask him how his QM is on the street...

I feel the absolute BEST street clutch is the exedy twin disk...

if you are going to abuse the crap out of it, id go with something else.

we have used fidanza with great success, and they did our twindisk for us that is being tested in our TA car....

lockout issues can sometimes be associated with a flywheel/clutch combo! we have seen almost every brand cause issue in one car or another. but rarely are the combinations the same.

cheers

thanks for your inputs guys, I am wondering if I dont boost the car at ALL!!! if I shift before 3000 rpm and baby it, how long it will last? I am leaving base soon and have a 1000 mile trip coming up inwhich I have to drive the car............ I dont know if I can get a clutch and install it in enough time since I have none. I have 2 weeks until I leave.

I am looking at the ACT Hd with street disc, for the price it seems good, as for the lockout, I hear a solid front motor mount and clutch adjustment take care of it as long as the clutch is broken in correctly.

Totally agree with this!
Best feeling problem free clutch on the market.
Install and break it in properly and bobs your uncle.

If I turn down the boost to 12psi and just drive the car as if it isnt turbocharged how long you guys think this clutch will last? it slips around 3k-4k then grabs again from there. Seems to do it in all the gears though.

How much wood could a wood chuck chuck if a wood chuck could chuck wood?

Avoid traffic, get on the road and shift before the slipping point.
Get the number of flatbed's along the way of your trip just in case.

I have the Competition Clutch 6 puck clutch and it's a little "chattery" until you get used to it but I like it and they're only 375. I've beat the crap out of mine and it still holds. I believe they're rated at 400 ft/tq.
