GM 3port vs. MBC

First off if this is covered anywhere else, I'm sorry. I looked and was unsucessful.

If everyone that went from a standard MBC to a GM 3port please post their comments in detail and if you have a before and after dyno graph please add. The goal is to hold more boost more effeciently. I'm currently running 30-32lbs during the heat of the day (in the NW thats only 70 ) and at night when its down in the 50s I'm spiking well over 35+lbs and starting to knock a bit...PROBLEM... I have pushed the stock turbo over its limits and maybe there is nothing I can do to help resolve this but I assume with the 3port and ECU controled boost it would help regulate this???

Also this is a good question for the tuning section but how hard is it to tune/ECU control boost? I'm going to be reading more into this! Thanks for your help, and if you need to know my mods they are in my sig!

And if you dont like factory ebc maybe try aftermarket ebc? I'll probably end up running the AEM but from what I understand aftermarket ebc's will have same boost regardless of weather. I may be incorrect though.. When I talked with English they said they weren't too fond of the factory bc.

Aaron told me the same thing but I'm not to sure how much Aaron has played with ebc. The new mod upgrade can pull timing and boost which would be a perfect setup for a pump+meth car like myself running high boost levels on a stock turbo... like a ticking bomb!

This is something I'm really thinking about playing around with!

I am going to this setup in the next couple fo weeks. I will reply back when I have it installed. I am currently on factory control. Upgrading to a 4 bar map sensor, 3 port solenoid, and then went ahead and upgraded the WGA just for good measure. Running stock turbo, and we will see where we pan out after tune.

Get a GM 3port. Its far superior to an MBC. Look at GST graphs. It holds MUCH better and is way more consistent. It also nice you can run a MAC valve with it so if your failsafe faults it automatically results back to wastegate boost or your lower map. Make sure you tuner can actually properly work with it though...some don't like too spend the time on them and can have erratic boost curves. Once its set though its strait as an arrow. I'll never touch an MBC again personally unless you go big turbo.

Honestly, I think stock/aftermarkt/GM boost controller is the way to go.... I mean if you use a MBC, are you not using your stocky boost controller? Meaning straight line to MBC to WG?
