Engine = boom. Questions
This doesn't belong in the blown engine thread yet. I'll post there when/if I know exactly what happened. To make a long story short:
1. Bought used Evo from dealership - was modded to unknown degree
2. Took to shop. Was not boosting and running very rich
3. 4 days later threw a rod bearing
4. Towed back to dealer - they agree to replace bottom end with new
5. During replacement get call saying oil pump is shot also, need to order parts
6. Also say that heads were sent to machinst to "make sure no debris in them"
So, I drove the car 4 days... it's been at the dealership for 2 weeks. I'll probably get it back next week.
Important question: when I get this thing back, what are the most important things I need to look for??? Keep in mind that I did not see inside the motor at all, I'm going by what the service manager is telling me (who does seem like a cool and honest guy). I do not know what caused the failure (probably bad oil pump) in the first place. I am getting a new bottom end and oil pump. From what I know, everything else will be coming off the engine that threw the bearing. I'm not sure what's going on with the heads yet.

.Anyway like stated above, don't let them get away with "cleaning/purging" the oil cooler. It never works, get a new one. Also there's only one head on the car not heads
. No V8/V6 business here.

I suggest you get the car out of the dealership as soon as they are done, and get the car to a reputable shop (or individual) in the Phoenix area who really knows EVOs and EVO ECUFlash tuning. Certainly, there are others in PHX here who should be able to help you with that.

If a bearing failed and the motor is toast that means that it most likely scattered debris throught the entire oil routing system in the engine, as various people have said just flushing the system will not be sufficient, have them replace everything or the risk for failure is still there...
