I switched to E85 a couple months ago and am glad I made that decision. The additional power and room for error it adds is difficult to get without running race gas all the time. The initial tune takes a little while to get right, but the knowledge base on EvoM and other boards helps matters a lot.

I am still working on my warm start issues, but other than that, the car runs as smooth as it did on 93 octane gas.

Race gas for pump gas prices; what more is there to debate? If it is readily available definitely switch; otherwise utilize map switching when it's not available.

I just realized there are 3 stations that carry E-85 near me in a 1-3 mile radius. I'm tuning for e85 next chance I get as soon as I make a few modifications. From what I have seen and read, it is a hell of a lot more efficient so if it's near you, take full advantage of it!

well after some research, I have discovered that there are only two stations that sell it near me and one is 15 mins away and a pain to get to, its down town near the airport, the other station is 20 mins away and will not sell to anyone that is not driving a flex fuel car, meaning the evo can not fill up there. so know i am not sure what to do.

i make a 30 min drive to get it when im up at school and they always say that if its not a "flex fuel" vehicl then i cant fill up well i told them i am a true felx fuel car now and if they dont let me fill up i will call the cops and they let me fill up all the time now no questions, thats if you even have to go inside usually you can just pump right from the pump dont have to go inside and deal with the people... but best way to get around it is get a flex fuel badge on ebay for 10 bucks then show them when they ask haha

E85 gets you into 105oct, unbeleivable tunability-lo knock, go double fuel pumps, and big fuel injectors as your turbo combo will take, remember always mod for the future!!! You know everybody wants it and if your fortunate to have a station close by what are you waiting for?

If you show up with a drum in the back of a truck, I would think that they would sell you some fuel.

yea i run pump and meth and really dont understand why anyone would switch to a less available fuel source that reqs more fuel to do the same thhing as gasoline. that spells inefficiency to me. has anyone switched a stock evo to e85? i think the gains really just come from the tune and that there is more fuel in the combustion chamber to prevent detonation. if E85 was so amazing it would make more power with the same amount of fuel.

when i first started my car i looked into E85. read this thread, almost every post has something negative about it besides the gained power and one or two people claim they are saving a little compared to 93OCT

methanol is an alcohol, not water. and on that note, who wants to put their dinner in their gas tank? maybe i am just on the wrong thread and i am wasting my breathe.

Probably because no one in an Evo has ran 8's on pump gas or even pump/meth.
