Quote: I wonder how much this will extend the life of your wire harness and connectors in that area - injector pigtails, tps etc. The plugs and wire insulation tends to get brittle with all the heat exposure.
This is a good point.

People do get "performance" minded a little too much sometimes and do not look at, Does this part help my car work longer too.

You could argue, with the drop in Manifold temps my Map sensor and Injectors would not be exposed to that heat now.

You're better off getting a real phenolic rather than a piece of plastic. The real phenolic materials are reddish brown like the one at the top of this page.

You need two oem gaskets to sandwich the phenolic and prevent leaks.

That's what mine looks like. Got it from MAP.

Would you need longer bolts with the 2 OE gaskets plus the one above?

Possibly. But I haven't installed my IM yet...still waiting on the shortblock to get assembled.

English Racing supplies new, longer, hardware with their Phenolic gasket. Didn't know about the other two OEM gaskets sandwiching it though. I used some copper gasket spray on mine. Need to do a boost leak test for sure now.

THat's what MAP suggested/supplied when I purchased my phenolic from them.

I can confirm: YES you do need longer Hardware.

Installed Intake Thermal Barrier last week to fit on a AMS F1i Intake manifold.

For me the M8-1.25 x 35mm bolts worked for the Small bolts ( The bracket to the Alternator had to size up higher to a 40mm Length bolt)

The Studs got sized up to M10-1.25 x 40mm Length

Then your going to need Spacers for both the Engine Hoist Bracket and Alternator Bracket

The Alternator Bracket i had to modify to fit around the MIVEC Hard line. Cut a Small Notch out.

Note: The AMS Intake flange is thicker than the Stock Manifold.

Hope this helped some......
