Carbon clutches from what I am told should be used for purpose built race cars only as they need lots of heat to work properly. Daily driver will ruin that clutch quickly, again from what I am told.

Because it will last 3x longer than a $600 one, and is actually easier to drive (read: less grabby, softer pedal feel) than an ACT HDSS, doesn't lock you out at 6500 rpm and will afford most of us enough holding power that we will never need another clutch. The most expensive (i think) is the carbonetic triple plate ($3000) which is a race only clutch. The reason most of us are fanboys of the Exedy is because we have experienced the issues, communicated them to each other and came up with the best solution.

I have installed the ACT HDG6 around 59,xxx miles. I'm currently right below 67,000 miles. The car drives fine. I haven't done any hard launches from a dead stop but from a roll I haven't experienced any high rpm lockout. Actually ever since I changed the clutch I haven't had any tranny grids while shifting. Because the clutch grabs harder than stock and is a 6 puck instead of a full face it does require a bit more pedal work when coming from a stop on a hill. To be fair my girl is 5 feet tall and can drive the Evo just fine on hills. She hasn't complained of the pedal being any stiffer than stock either.

I also installed the clutch with my brother, who is an ASE certified technicain, in a house hold garage. We changed all the fluids for the transmission, transfer case, and differentials. We did not change the clutch fluid. After the install my brother adjusted the pedal height because the stock height was not fully disengaging the clutch. If high rpm lockouts occur it is a good idea to check the pedal height and see if the clutch is fully disengaging when the clutch pedal is pressed.

I have the ACT street disc in right now with about 17k miles and probably around 30 launches on it and it's still up great at about 380whp. If installed and adjusted properly it's a great clutch.
