this is a weird one need help please..

ok so i get my car running amazing, take it down for a tune, and was told no tune because the car is in bad running condition.... knock sensor knocking max, horrible noise coming from somewhere around the intake manifold while the throttle is being pushed....

so im like WHAT??? i get in my car to come home and it barely ran ...

so this is what i found, if you unplug the mass air sensor the car runs perfect. plug it back in, and it makes the same noise.

it sounds like something is rattling around inside my intake manifold.

should i spend the money on a new mass air? or is there something cheaper i could try first to save some cash???

i pulled in the parking lot to get a tune with the car runing perfect, all he did was start the car and pull it on the dyno. did not do any runs cuz the knock sensor was knocking max from this mysterious noise. so it broke inbetween me parking it and him pulling it in the shop

That is very odd that when you unplug the mass air, it runs better. I would pull the IC pipe off the throttle body and have a look inside.

i did pull it off, it looks good. like i said its something when i pull the mas off , meaning somthing electrical... so nothing mechanical here unless its something mechanical controlled by a solenoid that gets its info from the mas

that happened to my eclipse, and it ended up being the fuel pressure regulator... ran like hell or barely ran at all, then ran perfectly normal with the MAF sensor unplugged

i guess i should also add that when it makes the noise it pulls alot of timing... fuel pressure reg... are you talking about right at the end of the fuel rail?

in my eclipse, iirc (it was like 4 years ago lol, and i got it done at the dealer) it was in the gas tank...

When the MAF was plugged in, it'd idle REALLY rough and wouldn't stay running for long unless I floored it, and the only way I could drive it without killing it, I'd burn the crap out of the clutch. Then a friend at the local Pep Boys unplugged the MAF and it ran perfectly. Then i got it fixed at the dealer lol

sounds like your prob is a little opposite of mine, my baby runs good at idle and also if you slowly push the throttle. but if you hit the throttle it makes the rattle noise and pulls timing, but with the mass air unplugged you can hit the throttle as hard as you want with no issues ...

do you have a wideband? DO you know what afr your running with maf sensor in?
I know with the maf sensor out it will go extremely rich so maybe thats why it fixes your problem.
